Man fatally attacked inside Lakeside shopping centre in broad daylight
Gruesome assault shocks shoppers
Police were called just before 4.30pm today (Thursday 28 April) after reports of a man seriously assaulted inside Lakeside shopping centre. Paramedics rushed to the scene but sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the site.
Witnesses say the victim was attacked by two men believed to be Black or Asian. One wore blue ripped jeans, a white t-shirt, black trainers, and a black puffer jacket while carrying a small bag. The other was spotted in a blue tracksuit and white trainers.
“Targeted attack,” cops reveal
Detective Chief Inspector Scott Egerton, leading the Kent and Essex Serious Crime team, spoke out:
“I want to extend my condolences to the family after this awful attack. “The shopping centre would have been busy, so I’m confident someone saw what happened. “I urge anyone with information to contact my dedicated team. “This appears to be a targeted attack with no ongoing danger to the public.”
