Fire Crews Targeted at Farnborough Station After Early-Morning Attack
Firefighters were called into action at Farnborough Railway Station after being assaulted with objects in the early hours of Tuesday.
Bin Fires Spark Emergency Call-Out
Just after 3am, fire crews from Rushmoor raced to Union Street in Farnborough. They responded to reports of a building fire but found several rubbish bins deliberately set alight near the station.
Main Ticket Office Shut After Attack
Part of the station remains cordoned off, including the main ticket office, which South West Trains confirmed will stay closed this morning. Passengers are advised to use platform ticket machines instead.
Police and Firefighters Guard Scene
Despite the chaos, trains continue to stop at the station. However, British Transport Police are guarding the sealed-off areas. One fire crew has stayed on-site for over two hours, waiting for station staff to arrive.
Investigations Underway
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said:
We will be working with partner agencies and British Transport Police at first light. An arson task force officer is attending to recover evidence of the attack.”
British Transport Police declined to comment at this time.
