Cyclist Battles for Life After Brutal Hit-and-Run in Preston
A cyclist is clinging to life after a shocking hit-and-run smash on North Road, Preston at the crack of dawn today.
Early Morning Horror on North Road
Lancashire Police revealed the grim scene. At 4.51am, a passerby flagged down North-West Ambulance Service after spotting an unconscious man lying in the road. Nearby, a battered bike was abandoned, bearing marks of a serious crash.
The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening head injuries.
Suspect Nabbed After Police Chase
Following the hit-and-run, cops tracked down a damaged black Ford Focus in Fulwood, matching the crash scene.
A 24-year-old man from Fulwood was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He also faces charges for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The suspect remains in custody.
Police Hunt Witnesses and Dashcam Clips
Officers are desperate to piece together the full story. They want anyone who saw the smash or has dashcam footage from 4.30am to 4.50am—especially drivers passing through the area—to come forward now.
The road was briefly closed during the investigation but has since reopened.
