Kent PCSO Found Dead in Snowdown Wood – Police Treat Death as Suspicious
The body of 53-year-old PCSO Julia James was discovered shortly after 4pm on Tuesday, 27 April, in Akholt Wood near Aylesham Road, Snowdown. The tragic find has sent shockwaves through the local community and the police force.
No Arrests Yet as Serious Crime Unit Launches Probe
Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are leading the investigation. While no arrests have been made, officers are treating Julia’s death as suspicious. Police are urgently appealing to anyone who was in the area on Monday 26 or Tuesday 27 April to come forward with information.
Police Plead for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Assistant Chief Constable Tom Richards said:
“It saddens me to confirm that the victim was a serving PCSO for Kent Police. We are carrying out multiple lines of enquiry and you will see an increased police presence in Snowdown. Our thoughts remain with her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.”
Richards added:
“If you were in the area on Monday or Tuesday and saw anything unusual, please contact us. We’re especially keen to hear from those who regularly visit Akholt Wood or drove past with dashcam footage.”
