Police rushed to Lord Warwick Street, Woolwich, on Thursday afternoon after a shooting left Eghosa Ogbebor fatally injured. The 27-year-old was found with serious wounds and died at the scene.
Six Arrested in Connection With Woolwich Shooting
- A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in custody.
- A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were nabbed in Woolwich on suspicion of murder.
- Earlier arrests include two teenagers, aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old man, all released on bail.
Police Swarm Woolwich Streets
Residents reported a heavy armed police presence near Woolwich Dockyard, with many ordered to stay indoors. Social media flooded with images of officers securing the area overnight.

“Our team of dedicated detectives are continuing enquiries to investigate Eghosa’s tragic death,” said Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation.
“We appreciate the concern this has caused in the local community, who will continue to see an increased police presence around the area. “We urge anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity to come forward and assist with the investigation. “Our thoughts remain with Eghosa’s family at this incredibly difficult time.”
