Man in his 80s airlifted to hospital after serious collision in Haslemere

A pensioner has been rushed to hospital with serious head injuries following a crash in Surrey’s Haslemere.

Shoppers Witness Harrowing Crash

The man, believed to be in his 80s, had just been buying shoes at nearby Cockerill Shoes when disaster struck. Staff at the shop sprang into action, grabbing first aid kits to help before emergency crews arrived.

Accident Details

The smash happened just before 12:50pm at the busy junction of High Street and Shepherds Hill. A blue Nissan Micra collided with the pedestrian, leaving the elderly man seriously injured. He was airlifted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting for urgent treatment.

Driver Unharmed, Area Locked Down

The driver, though shaken, escaped without injury. Police have slapped road closures on Shepherds Hill junction with Lower Street, College Hill, and Petworth Road. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to steer clear of the town centre as emergency teams work on scene.
