High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash on A249
Drama unfolded on the A249 near Stockbury at 1.55pm on Tuesday, 23 November 2021, when a van refused to stop after being flagged down by Kent Police. Officers suspected the vehicle was using false number plates.
Van Rams Into Civilian Car
Just 10 minutes later, the rogue van collided with a car near the Key Street roundabout. To end the chase and keep bystanders safe, police used tactical contact to bring the van to a halt.
Two Arrested After Police Car Catches Fire
Two men were arrested and taken to hospital for precautionary checks before being moved to a police station, where they remain in custody. One Kent Police car was damaged and caught fire during the pursuit, but Kent Fire and Rescue Service quickly put out the flames. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
Officers are still at the scene, carrying out ongoing investigations.
