EasyJet Horror Flight: Teen Threatens Crew and Passengers, Plane Makes Emergency Landing
Passengers on an EasyJet flight from Antalya to London Gatwick faced a terrifying chaos mid-air when a 16-year-old girl allegedly went berserk. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Bari, Italy, after the teenager threatened to stab cabin crew and tried to open a door during a tussle over a coughing 10-year-old passenger.
Mid-Flight Madness: Teenager’s Violent Outburst
Eyewitnesses described the scene onboard as “carnage.” The trouble began when the teen, seated near a 10-year-old girl, got agitated by the child’s coughing. She shouted at the young passenger, followed her to the toilet, then verbally abused the child’s mother. Things rapidly spiraled out of control as her behaviour grew more erratic and aggressive.
Nadine, 39, from Reading, who was travelling with her 19-year-old daughter, said: “It turned to hell on the flight home. The teenage girl was shouting, threatening crew members, and even tried to open the plane door. Everyone was terrified.”
Emergency Landing and Chaos on Board
The situation escalated when the teen reportedly broke the plane door handle and started throwing her shoes at passengers. Cabin crew struggled to restrain her while stressed passengers reportedly fell ill. For everyone’s safety, the pilot made the swift decision to divert the flight to Bari.
Upon landing, police, firefighters, and maintenance teams rushed to the scene. The disruptive teenager was arrested and witnesses gave their statements.
Shattered Passengers and Poor Aftermath
Passengers were deeply shaken by the ordeal. Nadine’s daughter Jernai admitted the experience left her too scared to fly again, calling it “traumatising.”
“I’ve never been so relieved to be home,” said Nadine. “This has ruined my Christmas.”
She slammed the hotel provided in Bari, describing it as “appalling” with poor conditions and no basic amenities.
EasyJet’s Response and Passenger Backlash
EasyJet confirmed the incident and commented: “Flight EZY8556 from Antalya to London Gatwick diverted to Bari due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard. Our cabin crew acted quickly and appropriately to ensure the safety of all passengers.”
The airline apologised, offered hotel stays, meals, and promised to cover incurred expenses. Yet, many passengers, including Nadine, blasted the airline for poor communication and little support during the trauma.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Italian police have launched a full investigation. The teenager remains in custody as authorities probe the serious mid-flight incident. More updates are expected soon.
Passengers Fear Future Travel
Many on board say they are now nervous about flying again. Nadine summed up the mood: “It was nothing but stress. I don’t think I’ll go on a holiday for at least a year after this.”
