Young Woman Shot Dead in Liverpool Backyard

Just after midnight on Sunday, Ashley Dale, 28, was found injured in a Liverpool backyard. Despite emergency care at the scene and hospital treatment, she was pronounced dead.

A Home Office post-mortem confirmed Ashley died from a single gunshot wound. Police believe she was not the intended target. Ashley was a graduate and worked for Knowsley Council’s environmental health team.

Car Seen Entering Crime Scene Minutes Before Shooting

CCTV shows a car pulling into Leinster Road, Old Swan, at around 12.30 a.m., roughly 10 minutes before Ashley was found. Officers are appealing to the driver, passengers, and any pedestrians nearby for crucial information.

“Our officers are working around the clock to investigate this appalling incident that tragically resulted in the death of a young woman,” said Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings.

“If you saw anything at the time—whether you were driving, walking, or caught something on CCTV—please come forward. Your help is vital.”

The shooting followed the Anthony Joshua heavyweight fight loss to Oleksandr Usyk. The streets were busy with fans heading home or into town. “Taxi and delivery drivers with dashcams in the area during that time are also urged to contact us,” she added.
