Tragic Death of 11-Year-Old at Liquid Leisure Windsor
A chilling afternoon at Liquid Leisure Windsor turned tragic when police rushed to reports of an 11-year-old girl in distress at around 3:55pm.
Massive Rescue Effort Launched
Emergency services sprang into action immediately. Officers teamed up with Royal Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Surrey Fire and Rescue Services, plus South Central Ambulance. The National Police Air Service (NPAS) also assisted in an extensive search.
After more than an hour of searching, around 5:10pm, the girl was found and rushed to Wexham Park Hospital. Despite desperate efforts, she sadly died.
Investigation Underway as Loved Ones Mourn
The death is being treated as unexplained. While formal ID is pending, the girl’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from police.
“My thoughts are with the family and friends of the girl who died as a result of this tragic incident,” said Superintendent Michael Greenwood, Windsor and Maidenhead’s local policing area commander.
“All emergency services responded quickly, and after an extensive search of the lake, the girl was found. This has been an extremely traumatic and upsetting incident for all involved.”
“I am aware that several members of the public bravely entered the lake shortly after the girl became disoriented but were unable to locate her. I commend their courage.”
