Sex Assault Probe Launched After Distressed Woman Found in Herne Bay
Kent Police are hunting witnesses after a woman was spotted distressed in Herne Bay’s High Street in the early hours of Saturday, 14 July 2018.
Woman Found Alone and Upset on High Street
A member of the public rang police at 4.11am reporting a woman sitting in a doorway opposite the fire station. Officers believe she may be a victim of sexual assault but she left before they arrived.
Detective Constable Ron Smith said: “We are concerned about her welfare and urge her to contact us so we can establish if an offence took place.”
Description of Woman Sought by Police
- In her 20s
- Slim to medium build
- Wavy brown hair just below shoulders
- Wearing a patterned dress
- Barefoot, carrying high-heeled shoes
Man Arrested as Inquiry Continues
A 34-year-old local man is currently being held on suspicion of sexual assault.
