Over 20 men, mostly Romanian nationals, were found in the vicinity, raising serious questions about their immigration status and right to work in the UK. The Home Office’s Immigration Enforcement team joined the raid at 1pm, arriving in unmarked vehicles near popular spots Greggs and Subway.

Officials suspected the group had been brought in to carry out illegal work. While questioning the crowd, police identified a key suspect believed to be running the unlawful labour scheme.

15 Arrested and Van Seized as Probe Intensifies

Fifteen men, aged between 18 and 46, were arrested on immigration offences. Several others were released without charge. One individual agreed to pay for a flight back to Romania, with officials arranging his voluntary return.

A Peugeot van found at the scene was seized for lacking insurance and an MOT. The arrested suspects were taken to custody suites in Swindon and nearby locations for processing. Police stayed on site until all detainees were transferred, finally wrapping up around 3.30pm.

Ongoing Investigation Led by Immigration Enforcement

Wiltshire Police confirmed the arrests followed public complaints about suspicious behaviour. The Home Office is leading the investigation and is expected to provide an update on Monday.
