Two Arrested Over Body Found in Harlow Pond
Police have arrested two men after a body was found in a pond near a hospital in Harlow. The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Phillip Lewis, known as “Scottish Phil” to his friends.
Body Discovered on New Year’s Eve
Phillip’s body was found on New Year’s Eve in Oakwood Pond, Harlow. A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, and a 23-year-old was held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. Both suspects are local to Harlow and remain in custody for questioning.
Community Shocked by Tragic Death
Officers revealed Phillip Lewis had lived in Harlow for many years and was popular in the town. “He had a wide circle of friends who he socialised with,” police said.
Police Hunt Witnesses and Information
“We are reviewing doorbell footage dating back to early November,” said a police spokesperson. “We want to hear from anyone in contact with Phil since November 1st, as well as any friends or acquaintances.”
Authorities are also appealing to anyone who frequently visits the pond or surrounding areas to come forward with any suspicious sightings over the past two months. Officers have been knocking on doors in the neighbourhood and expect the police cordon to stay up for several more days.
