Runaway pigs bring M27 to a halt in wild motorway chase!
Traffic chaos erupted on the M27 near Fareham, Hampshire, when two pigs broke free from a local farm and stormed onto the busy westbound carriageway at Junction 9.
Pigs on the loose cause 20-minute lockdown
High-speed traffic screeched to a halt as officers and quick-thinking members of the public scrambled to catch the squealing escapees. The unexpected motorway dash lasted around 20 minutes, leaving drivers stuck in a baffling traffic jam.
Roads blocked, pigs cornered
Hampshire Police Roads Patrol confirmed the pigs were safely captured and traffic was soon released. A spokesperson said:
“We were dealing with two pigs on the M27 motorway at Junction 9 westbound. Traffic was stopped while we rounded them up. Both pigs are fine now, and we want to thank the public for their help capturing the animals and for their patience.”
Pigs safely returned to farm
The runaway pigs have been returned safely to their home, ending the motorway mayhem. Motorists caught up in the chaos no doubt breathed a sigh of relief as normal traffic flow resumed.
