A pensioner has tragically died after being hit by a bin lorry in Lancashire.

Early Morning Crash Closes Road for Hours

The woman, in her 70s, was struck just before 8am on 16 December on Trinity Close, Freckleton. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but she sadly died there.

Police shut the road for around six hours while they investigated the fatal collision.

The driver, a man in his 50s from St Anne’s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

Police Urge Witnesses and Dashcam Footage to Come Forward

Lancashire Police are appealing for anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam or mobile footage to contact them immediately.

“This collision has very sadly resulted in a woman losing her life and my thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this time,” said Detective Sergeant Matt Davidson.

“I would appeal for anyone who saw what happened or who has any footage and who hasn’t yet spoken to police to come forward and contact us.”
