Tragic Crash on A31 in New Forest Claims Woman’s Life

A 39-year-old woman has died following a horrific two-car collision on the A31 in the New Forest.

Fatal Smash at Bratley Arch

The crash happened at 3.25pm on Friday, January 8, on the westbound carriageway near Bratley Arch, close to Stoney Cross. The woman, from Stockbridge, was rushed to southampton-general-hospital/" title="Southampton General Hospital" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton General Hospital but sadly passed away the next day, Saturday, January 9.

Details of the Collision

Police say a black Mitsubishi Mirage, driven by a 62-year-old woman from Ringwood, collided with a stationary silver Toyota MR2 in the nearside lane. The 62-year-old was taken to hospital but later discharged. The 39-year-old Stockbridge woman was behind the wheel of the Toyota.

Ongoing Investigation and Appeal

Hampshire Constabulary is probing the tragic incident, with the coroner informed and next-of-kin being notified. Officers from the Totton Roads Policing Unit are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
