Urgent Appeal After 12-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured in York Hit-and-Run

Police are urgently hunting for witnesses after a 12-year-old girl was hit by a motorbike in York this afternoon.

The crash happened around 5pm on Wednesday, 12 June 2019, on Low Poppleton Lane. The motorcyclist sped off, leaving the young pedestrian with serious head injuries.

Girl Rushed to Hospital as Scene Remains Closed

The injured girl was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary for emergency treatment. The motorbike, thought to be grey or silver, vanished from the scene heading in an unknown direction.

The rider was spotted wearing a black jacket and a white helmet. Forensic Collision Investigators sealed off the area and expect to keep it closed for several hours.

Police Plea: Help Find Hit-and-Run Biker

Police are pleading for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward. They want witnesses who saw the crash or the motorbike fleeing to contact North Yorkshire Police immediately, quoting reference NYP-12062019-0335.

Officers also urge the motorcyclist—or anyone who knows their whereabouts—to get in touch without delay. Motorists are advised to avoid the area while investigations continue.
