Police Chase After ‘Knife’ Turns Out to Be Building Material in Durrington
On Tuesday night, Worthing Police rushed to The Causeway, Durrington, following reports that a 15-year-old was armed with a knife.
Youth Caught with Cannabis, Not a Knife
The teen was chased on foot and caught nearby. While no knife was found, officers did find cannabis and issued him a Community Resolution for possession.
CCTV Clears Up the Confusion
Police enquired further and reviewed CCTV footage. They confirmed the so-called knife was actually just a piece of building material. Officers removed this and various other construction debris to make the area safer.
Police Ramp Up Patrols Amid Youth Trouble
“We are aware of ongoing issues involving youths in the area, and we continue to 1 with partners and the community to combat this. We are also increasing patrols in the area for community reassurance,” said Adur and Worthing Police.
