The Coastguard Rescue 104 chopper from Lee-on-Solent sprang into action just after 2am today. The National Coastguard Operations Centre in Fareham received an urgent call for a medical evacuation.

The crew soared to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, Isle of Wight, to pick up a seriously ill patient. With medical staff on board, they swiftly transferred the patient to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for urgent treatment.
