Six-Year-Old Alanna’s Epic 19-Mile Charity Walk for Air Ambulance

Alanna is smashing fundraising goals for Hampshire and IOW Air Ambulance. After raising over £1,264 previously, she upped the stakes with a £2,219 haul from an October 2022 walk.

Latest Challenge: University Hospital Southampton to Portsmouth

Now, this determined six-year-old has already raised more than £3,775 on JustGiving for her biggest challenge yet. On April 8th, Alanna will trek over 19 miles from University Hospital Southampton to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth — all with her tiny legs!

“I am 6 years old. On the 8th April I am walking from University Hospital Southampton all the way to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth! This is a really long way, more than 19 miles and I only have little legs! The air ambulance is there for us if we ever need them every single day, even 1 day! They might be going to your mummy, daddy, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters or even your best friends.

Please can you tell your friends and 1 and help me raise as much as I can to be able to help the special doctors and paramedics help save some mummy’s or daddy’s lives.”

Family and Air Ambulance Praise

Alanna’s mum, Mia, gushed about her daughter’s relentless spirit:

“Alanna’s been talking about this challenge ever since she completed her last one. For such a young child to raise so much is inspirational. It is just so amazing to see her sheer determination, effort and enthusiasm each week as she works hard on her fundraising efforts. She doesn’t appear to have any understanding about how well she’s done or how proud everyone is, but she is very 1 to just keep going!”

Captain Nicholls echoed the praise:

“Without people like Alanna who raise money so that we can fly the team to people who need it, we couldn’t do what we do. Having met Alanna a number of times, I know what an awesome person she is, and I am sure she will put all of her effort into doing this for the air ambulance.”
