Six-Year-Old Heroine Tackles 19-Mile Charity Walk for Air Ambulance
Alanna, just 6 years old, is no ordinary fundraiser. After previously raising over £1,264 for the Hampshire and IOW Air Ambulance, she smashed her own record with a £2,219 haul from a 2022 walk. Now, she’s back with a new challenge and over £3,775 already banked on her JustGiving page.
Epic 19-Mile Walk from Southampton to Portsmouth
On April 8, Alanna will trek over 19 miles from University Hospital Southampton to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth – a huge feat for such tiny legs. She said:
“I am 6 years old. On the 8th April I am walking from University Hospital Southampton all the way to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth! This is a really long way, more than 19 miles and I only have little legs!
The air ambulance is there for us if we ever need them every single day, even Christmas day! They might be going to your mummy, daddy, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters or even your best friends.
Please can you tell your friends and family and help me raise as much as I can to be able to help the special doctors and paramedics help save some mummy’s or daddy’s lives.”
Family Proud, Air Ambulance Grateful
Alanna’s mum, Mia, beams with pride: “Alanna’s been talking about this challenge ever since she completed her last one. For such a young child to raise so much is inspirational. It is just so amazing to see her sheer determination, effort and enthusiasm each week as she works hard on her fundraising efforts. She doesn’t appear to have any understanding about how well she’s done or how proud everyone is, but she is very happy to just keep going!”
Captain Nicholls of the air ambulance added, “Without people like Alanna who raise money so that we can fly the team to people who need it, we couldn’t do what we do. Having met Alanna a number of times, I know what an awesome person she is, and I am sure she will put all of her effort into doing this for the air ambulance.”
