Barn Razed in Fiery Inferno Near Alresford
Flames Engulf Barn Packed with Hay and Machinery
Firefighters from across Hampshire raced to a barn blazing fiercely in Ropley, just outside Alresford, yesterday just before 4pm. The barn was stuffed with a forklift and a massive 1,500 bales of hay, turning it into a ticking firebomb near several homes.
Major Response: Multiple Crews Scramble to Tackle Blaze
Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service (HFRS) teamed up with the electricity company to cut power from nearby cables, while Southern Water and other agencies pitched in. Relief crews from Droxford, Alresford, Basingstoke, St Mary’s, and Cosham rotated in to back up the first responders from Alton and Winchester through the evening.
Fire Now Under Control, Dousing Fire Threat to Hedgerows
The fierce blaze has been scaled down. Only one fire engine remains on site, soaking nearby hedges to stop the fire from spreading.
