Serious Crash Shuts Newport Road on Isle of Wight
A major collision has brought traffic chaos to the Isle of Wight this morning. A three-vehicle smash involving a Southern Vectis bus, a Volkswagen transporter, and a red Peugeot has shut down Newport Road.
Crash Near St Mary’s Hospital
Hampshire Constabulary closed a large stretch of Newport Road between St Mary’s Hospital and Isle of Wight Prison after the crash at the junction with Parkhurst Estate.
Eight Injured, One Seriously
The smash, which happened at around 8:30am on Parkhurst Road, left eight people hurt, with one in a serious condition. Emergency services rushed to the scene to deal with the fallout.
Long Delays as Drivers Divert
The road closure has caused major tailbacks as motorists scramble to find alternate routes. Traffic officials warn of ongoing delays while the scene is cleared.
