Blaze Hits Thatched Cottage in Brighstone
Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are battling a blaze at a thatched cottage in Brighstone tonight (Saturday).
Two Fire Engines Rush to Scene
Two fire appliances from Newport were scrambled to the incident, which was reported just after 6pm. The fire broke out at a cottage off Limestone Road, sparked by a cooker left on.
Quick Action Prevents Disaster
Thankfully, crews arrived to find the cooker aflame but managed to isolate it quickly, making the area safe and preventing the fire from spreading.
