Massive Blaze Erupts at Sandycroft Plastic Recycling Centre
Firefighters are battling a fierce fire at a plastic recycling centre on Factory Road, Sandycroft. The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 3:14pm today (Tuesday 1st May) and rushed multiple crews to the scene.
Fire Crews Swarm to the Scene
Emergency teams from Wrexham, Flint, Buckley, Mold, Llandudno, Deeside, Rhyl, Johnstown, and Ruthin are currently tackling the blaze. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using hose reels and powerful main jets to douse the flames.
Public Advised to Steer Clear
- Road shut between Chemistry Lane and Factory Lane
- Residents urged to keep windows and doors closed
- Stay clear of the riverside cycle path in Sandycroft tonight
Heavy Smoke Sparks Travel Warnings
“Visibility is poor on the A494 and the M56 due to thick smoke. Please reduce your speed when travelling these routes,” warned Darren Jones from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service. “Water supplies may also be affected while we tackle the fire.”
