Massive Plastics Blaze Erupts in Sandycroft – Road Closures and Smoke Chaos
Firefighters are battling a fierce fire involving plastics on Factory Road, Sandycroft. The call came in at 3.14pm today (Tuesday 1st May) to North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Fire crews from across North Wales on the scene
Crews from Wrexham, Flint, Buckley, Mold, Llandudno, Deeside, Rhyl, Johnstown, and Ruthin have all been deployed. Firefighters in breathing apparatus are attacking the flames with hose reels and powerful main jets.
Smoke causes hazardous driving conditions
Darren Jones of North Wales Fire and Rescue warned, “Visibility is poor on the A494 and M56 due to thick smoke from the fire. We urge drivers to slow down and proceed with caution.”
Public urged to keep clear – water supply may be affected
Authorities have shut the road between Chemistry Lane and Factory Lane. Nearby residents are told to keep all doors and windows shut. “Please avoid the riverside cycle path in Sandycroft this evening if you are walking or cycling,” Jones added. “Water supplies could be disrupted as we fight the blaze.”
The incident remains ongoing as emergency crews work to bring the fire under control.
