Fire Sparks Panic in City of London Offices
Business professionals were rushed out of their offices today after a fire broke out in a restaurant kitchen just beneath their workplace. The blaze erupted near the iconic Bank of England on Lothbury, a hotspot for financial firms.
London Fire Brigade Battled the Blaze
The London Fire Brigade responded swiftly, sending four engines and about 25 firefighters to the scene around 4pm. Dramatic footage showed thick smoke billowing from the building as workers evacuated calmly but quickly.
Firefighters focused on the ground-floor kitchen of the restaurant, where the fire began. Nearby office workers gathered near landmarks like St Paul’s Cathedral and the Bank of England, some visibly shaken by the ordeal.
Fire Brigade Confirms No Injuries So Far
“Upon arrival, our teams found the kitchen partially alight and worked diligently to control and extinguish the fire. We received multiple calls and deployed crews from Shoreditch, Dockhead, Shadwell, and other nearby stations,” said a London Fire Brigade spokesperson.
Details on the restaurant involved and the extent of damage remain unclear. Officials are investigating the cause and assessing how the fire affected the building and offices above.
So far, no injuries have been reported. The London Fire Brigade continues to secure the site and ensure everyone’s safety.
