Air Ambulances Scramble After Plane Crash at Bembridge Airport

The Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service rushed to the scene of a dramatic plane crash at Bembridge Airport this Thursday afternoon. Crews from multiple stations are battling to reach the wreckage deep in marshland after a light aircraft went down.

Two Trapped After Light Aircraft Clips Power Lines

A man and a woman were trapped inside their two-seater plane, described as a “pug,” after the pilot reportedly swerved to avoid power lines, clipped them, and crash-landed in Brading Marshes near Centurion Woods. Emergency teams faced major challenges accessing the remote crash site.

Firefighters are even using a Land Rover to break through tough terrain to reach the casualties. One person has been freed, but the pilot remains trapped. Both victims are believed to have serious injuries.

Emergency Services Work Overtime in Remote Location

Police, fire, and ambulance crews coordinated their efforts in the difficult marshland area. A second air ambulance was scrambled to support the rescue operation. The injured man and woman were flown to southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton General Hospital for urgent treatment.

Police Confirm Investigation Underway

Inspector Adam Henderson-Parish said: “Officers continue to work closely with fire and ambulance teams at the scene. We remain here and are liaising with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.”

The crash was reported to police at 3.50pm, and the investigation is ongoing as authorities piece together what caused the pilot’s desperate manoeuvre.
