Crowds were seen running for cover as people fled the area, while at least one victim received first aid from members of the public before paramedics arrived.

Victims found at multiple locations

Police later confirmed additional victims were located at nearby locations along Whittier Boulevard, including at the junctions with Amalia Avenue and 6th Street, and Amalia Avenue and Whittier Boulevard.

Although the victims were discovered in different locations, detectives believe the incidents are linked and are treating them as a single shooting.

All four casualties were taken to hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

No arrests have been made and the gunman remains outstanding.
