Just Stop Oil Activist Hauled Out of Heathrow Terminal Five Over “Oil Kills” Sign

A climate activist from Just Stop Oil was forcibly removed from Heathrow Airport’s Terminal Five this morning after staging a protest with a “Oil Kills” sign. The drama unfolded at 10:20 AM as airport security and police swooped in.

Heavily Surrounded and Detained

The lone protester, filmed by two companions, was quickly surrounded by a hefty police and security presence by 10:40 AM. Officials hauled the activist to a side corridor citing a corporate injunction, before ejecting them from the terminal.

Global Climate Chaos Spurs Action

This Heathrow stunt is part of a wider wave of protests by Just Stop Oil and allied groups calling for a legally binding international treaty to ban fossil fuels by 2030. The demand comes amid yet another record-breaking week for global temperatures — a flashing warning over the climate crisis.

“Governments and fossil fuel companies are waging war on humanity,” a Just Stop Oil spokesperson said. “Innocent people face unlivable conditions while scientists warn vast parts of the world will soon be uninhabitable.”

Protests Hit London and Beyond

At the same time, Fossil Free London protested against London City Airport’s expansion outside the Department for Transport. Similar demonstrations erupted across Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada and the US in a coordinated international campaign dubbed “Oil Kills.”

Featuring 13 groups from over 10 countries, the campaign is a direct reaction to soaring temperature extremes and fossil fuel threats. Imperial College London climate scientist Dr. Joyce Kimutai warned: “This is exactly what climate science predicted if we kept burning coal, oil, and gas. It will only get hotter until we stop and reach net zero.”

Civil Resistance Ramps Up Ahead of Climate Catastrophe

With the climate crisis worsening, Just Stop Oil and partners are escalating protests at key fossil fuel economy sites worldwide. The group calls on individuals to join their escalating civil resistance, framing it as essential to stopping the next climate disaster.
