East Grinstead Faces Major Water Crisis After Storm Goretti
East Grinstead and nearby areas are battling a massive water disruption. Expect no water, sporadic supply, or low pressure until at least Sunday evening. South East Water confirms the nightmare continues, blaming Storm Goretti and freezing temperatures for the chaos.
Bottled Water Stations Move to New Locations
The original bottled water pick-up points in East Grinstead closed at 10pm on Saturday. From Sunday 11 January, residents must head to these new sites:
- East Grinstead Sports Club, Saint Hill Road, RH19 4JU
- Queensway Car Park, Queen’s Road, RH19 1BG
Both sites open daily from 9am to 10pm until normal water supply returns.
Storm Goretti and Freeze-Thaw Trigger Water Havoc
South East Water reveals Storm Goretti slammed Sussex’s treatment works, cutting water output drastically. At the same time, freeze-thaw conditions caused a surge in burst water mains across the county. This double hit has left drinking water storage tanks dangerously low.
