M2 SHUT: Blaze Forces Closure Between J4 and J5!

The M2 motorway is shut both ways from Junction 4 to Junction 5 after a vehicle fire sparked chaos. Drivers face at least 30-minute delays over several miles. Emergency crews and Highways England are battling the blaze and working flat-out to clear the scene.

Expect Delays or Reroute Now

If you’re near the closure, brace for serious disruption and longer journey times. Local drivers might need to find alternative routes. For those further afield, switching to the M20 or A2 could save you hours. Keep an eye on on-road signs and traffic updates for live info.

How to Dodge the Jam: Diversion Routes Explained

Eastbound/Coast Traffic: Follow the solid circle diversion symbol. Exit M2 at Junction 3, head through Walderslade/Blue Bell Hill roundabout, then take the southbound A229 towards Maidstone. From there, jump onto the M20 eastbound at the Coast-bound junction. Exit at Junction 7 and join the northbound A249 to return to the M2 at Junction 5.

Westbound/London Traffic: Look for the solid square diversion sign. Leave M2 at Junction 5, follow the A249 southbound to M20 Junction 7. Merge onto M20 London-bound, then leave at Junction 4. Take the northbound A228 to Junction 2 of the M2 and get back on your way.

Stay safe and travel smart as emergency teams work to reopen the M2 ASAP.
