Van Blaze Sparks Chaos on M25 and M26 in Kent
The M26 westbound in Kent is shut to all traffic after a van caught fire on the M25 at Westerham. The M25 clockwise remains gridlocked with lanes blocked as crews tackle the aftermath of the blaze between junction 5 and the A21 near Clacket Lane Services.
Firefighters Battling Flames and Damaged Road
The inferno erupted in lane two of the M25, with lane one already closed for roadworks, leaving just two lanes free – but the road remains blocked. Fuel from the van spilled onto the carriageway, wrecking the tarmac and complicating recovery efforts.
Quick Response from Fire Crew and Police
Two fire engines were deployed, and crews in breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to snuff out the flames. Thankfully, no injuries were reported,” said Kent Fire and Rescue.
Kent Police confirmed they received the emergency call at 3.41pm on Tuesday, 1 September 2020, reporting the van fire near Clacket Lane Services. Emergency teams continue to manage the scene.
