Fatal Collision Shuts Down Motorway

A man in his 50s was killed in a tragic crash involving a lorry and a pedestrian on the M5 southbound in Somerset. The horror smash happened between Junction 24 (Bridgwater South) and Junction 25 (Taunton) at 2.45pm on Wednesday, 26 February.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the man was pronounced dead at the site. His family has been informed and is receiving specialist support.

M5 Closed for Hours as Police Investigate

The motorway was shut in both directions for hours while police and collision investigators examined the crash. The northbound carriageway reopened at 6.15pm, but the southbound side stayed closed until later that evening, causing major delays for motorists.

Authorities thanked drivers for their patience during the disruption caused by this heartbreaking incident.
