Body of Missing Woman Found in River Trent

A grim discovery ended the desperate search for Penny, 50, from Lincolnshire. Her body was found inside a red Audi TT submerged in the River Trent near East Ferry, where she was last seen on January 14.

Intense Search Efforts Unearth Tragic Find

Lincolnshire Police launched a huge operation employing drones, foot patrols, and vehicles. Tracks near the riverbank led officers to the fatal scene north of East Ferry. On January 17, the Audi TT was pulled from the water, confirming the worst.

A police spokesperson said:

“We are saddened to report that in the search for missing Penny, she has been found deceased. Our thoughts are with her family during this incredibly difficult time.”

Investigation Into Circumstances Underway

Officers are probing how Penny’s car ended up in the river. They are calling on the public to avoid speculation, stressing the impact rumours could have on the grieving family.

“We ask that people do not speculate, and remember that her loved ones could be distressed by rumours and speculation,” the force added.

Family Supported in Time of Grief

Penny’s relatives have been informed and are receiving specialist support. They have requested privacy as they come to terms with their devastating loss.

This tragic case highlights the need to let police investigations run their course without interference. Anyone with information should contact Lincolnshire Police on 101.
