Police have opened a murder investigation following a fatal shooting in Woolwich.
Man Shot Dead on Lord Warwick Street
Officers were called to the scene shortly after 3:40pm on Thursday, April 2, after reports of gunfire. Paramedics rushed to help but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Three Held, Investigation Ramps Up
Three men have been arrested in connection with the shooting and remain in custody as inquiries continue at pace.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and loved ones. We understand the concern this will cause the local community. We have made three arrests and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who was nearby, or has CCTV, dash cam footage, or information should come forward.”
A London Ambulance Service Spokesperson said:
“We were called at 15:48 today (Thursday, 2 April) to reports of a shooting in Greenwich (SE18)
“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic practitioner, our Hazardous Area Response Team and deployed London’s Air Ambulance.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.”
