A 37-year-old man from Nelson has been sentenced to over four years in prison after police seized significant quantities of drugs during two raids on his homes in Barkerhouse Road and Pont Street, Nelson. The operation uncovered cannabis in August 2024 and cocaine and heroin in an October search.

Large Drug Haul Found

Police executed a search warrant in August at Paul Metcalfe’s Barkerhouse Road address, where they discovered a substantial amount of cannabis. This was followed by a second raid in October at his Pont Street residence.

Cocaine And Heroin Seized

The October search yielded quantities of Class A drugs including cocaine and heroin, escalating the severity of the case against Metcalfe.

Swift Police Action

Following the October raid, Metcalfe was arrested, charged with possession of Class A and Class B drugs with intent to supply, and remanded to prison pending trial.

Crown Court Sentence

At Preston Crown Court last month, Metcalfe pleaded guilty to the charges. He was subsequently handed a jail term of four years and four months, reflecting the seriousness of the drug offences committed.
