Hero Finds Stolen Defibrillator by the Roadside
Thanks to social media’s reach, a vital defibrillator was safely recovered after going missing. Mr Fiaz Ali from Oldham spotted the life-saving device dumped by the roadside, just a mile from where it vanished. Recognising it instantly, he contacted the ambulance trust to arrange its quick return.
Quick-Thinking Mr Ali Steps In
“When I saw it, I knew it was the one being talked about on social media,” said Mr Ali. “I took it home for safekeeping and contacted the ambulance service straight away. A family member was recently helped by one of these machines, so I knew how important it was.
I’m glad it’s been found and I could help.”
Community Rally After Defibrillator Vanishes
The news of the stolen defibrillator spread like wildfire on social media early yesterday. The trust was flooded with support and kind offers to replace the device from generous locals. They thanked everyone who pitched in.
Ambulance Boss Praises Public Support
Oliver Mayor, Operations Manager for Tameside and Glossop, said: “We’re hugely grateful to Mr Ali for his sharp eyes and returning the defibrillator, which is now fully operational and back in service.
I visited him last night to personally thank him for stepping up.”
“The public’s overwhelming support and willingness to help have been a real boost. We’re thrilled to have the lifesaving kit back where it belongs.”
