Ford Fiesta Overturns in Horror Crash Near Corfe Castle
Dorset Police rushed to East Street near Corfe Castle at 3pm on Thursday 22 April 2021 after a nasty smash involving a blue Ford Fiesta and a red Mazda. The Ford Fiesta flipped over, trapping its driver — an elderly man in his 80s from Swanage.
Three Injured, Firefighters Rescue Woman
The man in the Fiesta suffered minor injuries and was rushed to Poole Hospital. In the Mazda, the driver, a man in his 70s from Eastleigh, Hampshire, also escaped with minor injuries. However, his passenger, a woman in her 70s, was seriously hurt and had to be cut free by firefighters before being taken to hospital alongside the others.
Road Shut for Hours as Emergency Teams Work
The A351 was closed between Morden Park Corner and the Halfway Inn while emergency crews tackled the scene. The stretch of road remained shut for over three hours, reopening just after 6.15pm.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
“I am appealing to anyone who was travelling along East Street at the relevant time and witnessed the collision to please contact Dorset Police,” said PC Tracey Downer of the traffic unit. “We are also very keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident or the vehicles beforehand.”
“We appreciate the delays caused, but the road closure was necessary due to the seriousness of the crash, to allow treatment of the injured and safe recovery of the vehicles. Thanks to everyone for their patience.”
