Police Hunt Witnesses After Ford Transit Tipper Crash Shuts M3 Near Basingstoke

Police are urgently calling on drivers to come forward after a white Ford Transit Tipper crashed on the M3 northbound near Basingstoke last night.

Solo Crash Shuts M3 for Six Hours

At around 7:10pm on Friday, July 29, the van left the northbound carriageway between junctions 7 and 6 and smashed into the mile marker post for junction 6. No other vehicles were involved, but officers want to hear from anyone who might have seen what happened.

Driver Critically Injured and Hospitalised

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Bournemouth, was rushed by road ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with a serious leg injury. His condition is currently critical but stable.

M3 Northbound Road Closed Hours, Southbound Briefly Shut for Air Ambulance

The northbound carriageway was closed for around six hours overnight as emergency teams dealt with the incident. The southbound side was also temporarily closed to allow an air ambulance to land safely.

Police urge anyone with information to contact them immediately to help with the ongoing investigation.
