Police Probe After Woman’s Body Found in River Wey

Just before 9am this Saturday, officers were scrambled to Millmead Lock on the River Wey in Guildford after a woman’s body was seen floating in the water. The deceased has not yet been formally identified, but police have informed her family and the coroner.

Death Treated as Unexplained, No Suspects

The investigation is ongoing, with police treating the death as unexplained. However, officers do not currently believe anyone else was involved.

Witness Appeal: Picnic-Goer Who Left Before Police Arrived

Police are desperate to hear from anyone who was near Millmead Lock between 8am and 9am this morning and may have seen the woman before she entered the water.

In particular, they want to speak to a woman in her 50s who was reportedly sitting on a bench eating a picnic nearby. She left the scene heading towards Debenhams through the car park just before officers arrived.
