Police Officer Avoids Serious Injury in Late-Night M2 Crash Near Faversham
Early Morning Accident Closes Londonbound M2
The Londonbound carriageway of the M2 near Faversham is shut after a single-vehicle crash at around 1:30am on Thursday.
Kent Police are leading the response, with National Highways assisting traffic management. Several HGVs and other vehicles remain trapped behind the closure. Officers are working at the scene but can’t say when the road will reopen—though they hope to clear it before the morning rush.
HGVs and Commuters Stuck as Diversion Routes Launched
A diversion is now in place, clearly signed with a solid square symbol to guide drivers through local roads:
- Exit M2 at Junction 6 and take the A251 southbound towards A252 in Challock.
- At the roundabout, head west on the A252 towards Charing and the A20 junction.
- Follow the A20 westbound to Maidstone and M20 Junction 8.
- Join the M20 Londonbound until Junction 7.
- Exit onto northbound A249 towards M2 Junction 5 to resume westbound travel.
