Couple Nabbed in Brighton Amid Hunt for Missing Baby
Constance Marten and Mark Gordon were spotted in Stanmer Villas, Brighton, just before 9.30pm on Monday, February 27. A member of the public tipped off police, who quickly swooped and arrested the pair. They remain in custody as the search for their missing baby intensifies.
Baby Missing Since Birth – No Medical Care
The Metropolitan Police have launched an urgent search to find the couple’s newborn, who has not received any medical attention since arriving in early January. Authorities fear for the baby’s health and welfare.
Fugitive Couple’s Cross-Country Taxi Trail
Marten, 35, and Gordon, 48, have been on the run across the UK since their car erupted in flames on the M61 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, on January 5. Since then, they’ve been travelling by taxi, hopping from Bolton to Liverpool, then Harwich, East London, and finally Newhaven, Sussex. They were last seen near the ferry terminal on January 8.
From Wealthy Drama Student to Fugitive
Constance Marten, from a wealthy aristocratic family, was a promising drama student before meeting Gordon in 2016. The couple retreated from public view, moving around rental apartments while Marten was pregnant. It remains unclear if their baby was born full-term or if there are any health concerns.
Police believe the couple had been hiding in a blue tent, dodging CCTV cameras and moving constantly to avoid capture. Now, with the parents in custody, the desperate search for their baby goes on.
If you have any information about the whereabouts of the baby, call 999 immediately.
