M2 Westbound Slammed Shut After Serious Crash
The M2 is currently closed westbound between Junction 6 and Junction 5 following a serious collision. The crash happened just after 8.30pm on Saturday night, sparking a major emergency response.
Kent Police are leading efforts at the scene, working alongside all emergency services. An air ambulance was also scrambled to the incident. Hundreds of motorists are trapped in both southbound and northbound queues due to the closures.
Emergency Teams Rush to Restore Traffic Flow
Highways England has deployed resources to clear the scene and get traffic moving as quickly as possible. At present, there are no delays reported approaching the closed section of the motorway.
Diverted Traffic Signposted – Follow Solid Square Symbol
Drivers heading London-bound will be diverted off the M2 at Junction 6 onto the A251 southbound towards the A252 in Challock.
- At the A252 roundabout, continue west towards Charing and the A20 junction.
- Join the A20 westbound towards Maidstone and the M20 Junction 8.
- Merge onto the M20 London-bound, then exit at Junction 7.
- Take the A249 northbound towards M2 Junction 5 to rejoin the motorway.
Follow the solid square diversion signs for the full route. Avoid the area if possible and expect delays.
