Cold Air Brings Frost and Sunshine
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Steve Willington explained the wintry mix: “An Arctic maritime airmass is sweeping across the UK. Temperatures will plummet with widespread overnight frosts — severe in some spots. Daytime highs will barely creep above freezing.”
He added, “The Arctic chill also brings some brighter moments with dry, sunny spells, especially inland and in calmer winds, where you might even catch a glimpse of winter sunshine. Watch out for patchy freezing fog though.”
Health Alert: Cold Weather to Impact England
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a Level 3 Cold Weather Alert covering England up until Monday 12th December. This means the biting cold could pose risks to health, so vulnerable folks should take extra care.
