A Swindon man caught driving three times over the legal drug limit and without a licence has been slammed with a four-year driving ban. Emre Buldum, 24, from Belsay, Toothill, was busted for possession of a Class A drug, drug driving, and using a vehicle without insurance or a licence. He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

BMW Stop Unveils Shocking Offences

On September 5, 2025, Wiltshire Police’s special roads policing unit stopped a BMW X4 on Fleming Way. Buldum was behind the wheel but only had a provisional licence. Officers immediately noticed the smell of cannabis drifting from the vehicle. A roadside drug test showed positive for both cannabis and cocaine. Tests later revealed Buldum was over three times the legal limit for drugs while driving.

Harsh Penalties for Reckless Road Users

At Swindon Magistrates Court on April 8, Buldum was handed a four-year driving disqualification. He also received a 24-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. But that’s not all – he must complete 200 hours of unpaid work, pay a £154 surcharge, plus £85 in Crown Prosecution Service costs.

Police Warn Against Dangerous Driving Behaviour

A/Dep Specials Chief Officer Ben Williamson said: “Buldum showed a complete disregard for the law and for the safety of other road users. Driving under the influence of drugs, without a licence, and without insurance is an incredibly dangerous combination that puts lives at risk. We are committed to taking offenders like this off the road and will continue to take robust action against anyone who chooses to drive illegally.”

Wiltshire Police are stepping up efforts to catch and punish reckless drivers who endanger the public every day.
