A fierce garage fire ripped through a home on Sheila Road, Romford yesterday, destroying a vehicle and damaging another garage. Luckily, no one was hurt.

The London Fire Brigade revealed the blaze was sparked by a tumble dryer. Firefighters tackled the flames swiftly after over 20 emergency calls flooded 999 Control Officers.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson warned: “If your white goods start making a strange noise, don’t ignore it. Unplug immediately and contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician.”

“Most fires caused by white goods aren’t your fault,” they added, “so always register your appliances to get safety alerts.”

Quick Response from Firefighters Saves Neighbourhood

The fire broke out around 4.30 p.m. Three fire engines and 15 firefighters from Hainault, Dagenham, and Barking stations arrived swiftly, putting out the blaze by 5.20 p.m.
