Chaos on the M62: Road Closed Overnight as Emergency Crews Tackle Incident
Emergency services, including Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, are battling a serious incident on the M62 tonight. National Highways Traffic Officers have also swooped in to manage the traffic mayhem.

Eastbound Drivers Follow Solid Triangle Signs
- Exit M62 eastbound at Junction 7, join A57 westbound.
- Continue to Lingley Green Avenue junction; turn left.
- Follow Lingley Green Avenue to the Whittle Avenue roundabout.
- Turn left onto Whittle Avenue.
- At Burtonwood Road roundabout, turn left onto Burtonwood Road.
- At Burtonwood Road/M62 J8 roundabout, turn right to rejoin M62 eastbound.
Westbound Traffic Must Use Hollow Square Signs
- Exit M62 westbound at Junction 8; take the 2nd exit onto Burtonwood Road southbound.
- Continue to Westbrook Way roundabout.
- Take third exit onto Whittle Avenue southbound.
- At Malvern Cross roundabout, take third exit onto Lingley Green Avenue westbound.
- At A57 junction, turn right onto A57 westbound.
- Continue to M62 J7 roundabout; take 2nd exit to rejoin M62 westbound.
