Huge Blaze at Burton Recycling Centre Doused After Overnight Battle
Massive Fire Erupts at Burton Waste Facility
Firefighters were called into action late Sunday night to tackle a huge waste fire at a recycling site on Glensyl Way, Burton-upon-Trent. The alarm was raised just after 11.15pm, prompting rapid response from crews across the region.
Full Force From Fire Crews
Teams from Tutbury, Burton, Lichfield, and Rugeley, plus specialist units from Cannock and Rugeley, teamed up with Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service to take on the blaze. They deployed a high-volume pump and a water carrier, alongside four main jets, two ground appliances, and a hose reel jet, working tirelessly through the night.
No Injuries, Cause Confirmed
Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident. An accidental ignition was later identified as the cause of the fire. “I would like to commend the crews who worked tirelessly through the night to bring this extensive fire under control,” said Station Manager Sarah Smith.
Safety Reassured for Local Residents
All fire appliances have now left the scene, but fire officials will continue collaborating with the property owners to provide ongoing support. “We can assure residents the premises is safe, and the air quality around the area poses no risk,” Smith confirmed.
