Drama at North Weald as Plane Faces Landing Gear Trouble
A single-engine plane flying over North Weald Airfield sparked an emergency today after the crew reported a problem with their landing gear.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Shortly before 10:55am on Tuesday 9 March, air traffic control alerted police, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, the East of England Ambulance Service, and the National Police Air Service.
Safe Landing and No Injuries
Chief Inspector Ant Alcock confirmed: “Fortunately no-one was hurt and the aircraft landed safely.”
He added: “These incidents are rare, but we have contingency plans in place to handle emergency landings swiftly.”
He also praised the quick response of airfield staff and emergency crews: “I’d like to thank our partners for their support in ensuring a safe landing.”
